In keeping with our philosophy of using sustainable and recycled materials, Organicstone are excited to launch the New Ornamental Beehive made from GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) and Tiocem – Polution Busting Cement this month, with an authentic wooden texture almost indistinguishable from real wood, but giving a more durable alternative and never needs painting or maintenance.

The Organicstone Ornamental Beehive is a practical storage solution and arrives ready assembled , needing no nails or screws and is perfect to store Wellies, Garden tools and cushions – waterproof and never rots. It even has an authentic landing strip and vent hole featured on the original WBC Hive.
Like the original design, the Ornamental version is made up of individual 8” Lifts, with adjustable floor/shelf with a separate roof, making it easy to move around the garden in sections. The size is 21” x 21” and adjustable up to 32” height. So many uses for the Beehive, like composting and gas bottle storage.
The message behind the Ornamental Beehive is save our bees and encourage planting to attract the bees. Inspired by the original WBC Hive invented by William Broughton Carr, the design was published in the 19th Century and has the classic ‘country-garden ‘style, often seen in pictures and paintings and the design traditionally recognised with beehives.
Not only does the Ornamental Beehive make a beautiful feature or focal point in the garden, it provides a reminder of the importance of bees in the environment and awareness of the craft of beekeeping. Whether you have a large landscaped garden, roof terrace or a small back yard, we can all support by planting the bee friendly flowers and trees throughout the season.
In particular the work of the BBKA – The British Beekeepers Association set up in 1874 and is a registered charity promoting the craft of beekeeping and to advance the education of the public in the importance of bees in the environment have been an inspiration, especially everyone from the local Cheltenham & Gloucester branch.
To be unveiled at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show garden by Hillier Nurseries marking their 150th Anniversary, Organicstone have designed a honeycomb inspired pathway through the garden. Clearly the buzz word at this year’s Chelsea will be –  the Hillier’s Garden will be the Bee’s Knees!
